First time using Mac? Just same as some new users when using Mac Os X for the first time always a little bit confusing to choose which the best software for productivity. Here are some software based on freeware and opensource:
Quicksilver
Good looking spotlight, but when used as an application launcher it was rather slow. Well we need Quicksilver for that. Actually, Quicksilver not only for application launcher but also can be used to control iTunes or other applications. Quicksilver work collecting information in your system, just take it easy it will not decrease your Mac performance, your Mac will be just as fast.
AdiumX
iChat is cool but doesn’t support YM or MSN protocol. If you want a chat application that supports many protocols, AdiumX is the right choice. AdiumX also supports an user tools to make a beautiful view of chat window, so you can enhance your appearance with standard Adium themes that had been available.
Growl
Mac doesn’t support notification system, therefore attach the Growl. For example, you will be notified if your friend was online in YM on AdiumX application, Growl notification will come up directly on the desktop.
CyberDuck
For you who frequently use FTP or SFTP, you should immediately install Cyberduck. Cyberduck capabilities can be comparable with other premium FTP applications.
iBackup
iBackup able to backup your files to another computer, external hard disk or to Mac. Highly recommended if you have an important file.
Lynotype FontExplorer X
